Gambling with fake money is a no-no. Just ask Maybach Music rapper Fat Trel who got popped for passing off counterfeit bills at a casino in Maryland over the weekend.
According to authorities, while gambling at a casino Easter Sunday, Fat Trel handed 9 counterfeit 50’s to the pit boss. It was easy to identify them as fake because 8 of the 9 bills had the exact same serial number on them.
Fat Trel was arrested and charged with possession of counterfeit currency. Manufacturing and/or knowingly using counterfeit currency in the United States is a felony offense. Fat Trel maintains that he is innocent. He says he got the money out of an ATM at a DC area 7-Eleven. Though still illegal to possess and/or use counterfeit money, most courts will only charge you with fraud if you purposely try to pass fake money off as real.
We’ll have to see what Trel is able to prove to the courts. I had no idea that any ATMs, outside of banks, carried $50 bills. Especially 7-Eleven ATMs.
