Obama & Miami Heat Stand Up For Trayvon But Geraldo Blames Victim’s Attire

First and foremost I want to give major kudos to our President for addressing the injustice that is the murder of Trayvon Martin. Obama says in a statement “My main message is to the parents of Trayvon Martin. You know, if I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon. I think they are right to expect that all of us as Americans are going to take this with the seriousness it deserves and that we are going to get to the bottom of exactly what happened,” and goes on to add  “I think all of us have to do some soul-searching to investigate how something like this happened. And that means we examine the laws, the context, what happened, as well as the specifics of the incident.”

Also major kudos to Lebron James for getting his teammates to band together and make a statement. Geraldo though? Check out his tweets below on why he think Treyvon’s murder was his own fault.

So essentially what Geraldo is saying is that any person of color wearing a hoodie is going to be classified as “gangsta” and should accept that these type of things will happen. He also believes it is our job as parents to make sure our kids stay away from these evil hoodies. Now I would totally understand where Geraldo was coming from had Trayvon been shot by a “rival” gang member or even wore anything that could have been mistaken as gang affiliated. A hooded sweatshirt is not “gangster”. Had his pants hung down to his knees, or he had a bandana hanging out of his pocket, then maybe..just maybe what Geraldo was saying would make sense. But based off a hoodie? That is no reason to be deemed suspicious. Especially since it was cold and rainy at the time. What is Trayvon supposed to wear in the cold rain? A sun dress? A wife beater? Since when is what we’re wearing the determining factor in whether we get to keep our life? Geraldo was an idiot for that comment and even more of an idiot for standing by it. Meanwhile, white kids across America are safe according to Geraldo’s theory. And if we go by Geraldo’s theory, if you’re wearing a short skirt, you deserve to be raped too.

So how gangsta are you here, Geraldo?
