Celebrate The 50th Anniversary Of “To Kill A Mockingbird”

With Black History Month in just a few short days, I wanted to kick it off with something special.  I’d like to remind you of a very important book/film, “To Kill A Mockingbird”, a classic film introduced to us i n1962 that takes place in the fictional town of Macomb, Alabama during The Great Depression.

One of the main characters is Atticus Finch, a lawyer who decides to take he case of a black man accused of raping a white woman. The primarily white town disapproved, calling Atticus a “nigger lover” and taunting his children Scout & Jem, who the movie follows primarily. Later it is discovered that the woman accused of being raped actually made sexual advances to the black man, was caught by her father and then beaten. 

No one tells this story as great as it’s told in To Kill A Mockingbird. The book was under a lot of scrutiny and even certain books wanted it removed from schools. I was fortunate enough to be able to read this book in high school  and learn a little about history, even through the eyes of a fictional tale. 

For the first time ever the Academy Award winning classic film To Kill A Mockingbird is coming to Blu-Ray and will be available tomorrow, January 31, 2012.The Limited Edition Collector’s Series Combo Pack of To Kill a Mockingbird: 50th Anniversary Edition will include a Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Copy of the film, packaged in a hardcover book featuring exclusive movie memorabilia including script pages with Gregory Peck’s handwritten notes, storyboards, poster art and much more.
