Celtics fans can breathe easy, Kevin Garnett will not face penalty for putting his hands around Bill Walker’s neck and shoving him during the Boston vs New York Christmas game.
Apparently what caused Garnett to get angry was Walker contesting the potential buzzer beater. Garnett hadn’t made the shot anyway, and words were exchanged. When later asked what was said, Walker responded “I can’t get into that. We were in the heat of the game. It was a tough game throughout, it was a dog fight. Nobody wanted to lose. It just came to a head right there and it’s over.”
Garnett and Walker eventually made amends after the game. Walker caught Garnett walking to the Celtics bus and expressed that he had no hard feelings.
“We shook hands, I talked to him … I chopped it up with him. I still respect those guys,” said Walker, who played a little over one season with Garnett in Boston. “I have a respect for KG,” Walker added.
Well, glad to see the two got over it. It was definitely an emotionally charged game.
