It pains me to have to write about things like this regarding Allen Iverson because he was really one of my favorite players in the league but some of his off court antics are disappointing. This story here is prime example.
Allen Iverson is still in the middle of a divorce from his estranged wife Tawanna and things are getting rather ugly. Tawanna filed for divorce back in June and claims that ever since doing not only has Allen stopped depositing money into their joint bank account but has also been making many large withdrawals. What could Allen be buying you ask? Let’s try $20,000 worth of diamonds for starters. According to TMZ Tawanna claims the account was $23,000 in the red at the time she filed the court docs — and she’s been unable to pay the bills or provide for their 5 kids. Of course, A.I. denies all of these claims.
We all know that Iverson has had a lot of issues with gambling. Who’s to say he’s not still into that and that’s where a lot of his family’s money is going. I would hope that he would at least care enough about his children’s well being that he would make sure they were taken care of financially. Tawanna quit working to become a stay at home mom and Allen is out here buying $20,000 worth of diamonds? Could we really blame Tawanna if she wanted to do Basketball Wives and make a little money of her own? Clearly A.I. isn’t holding up his end of the bargain.
