Many of you may be too young to know who Tonya Harding is, but the Tonya Harding/Nancy Kerrigan drama was probably one of the most publicized sports incidents of my childhood next to the OJ Simpson trial.Â
If you’re not familiar with the story, Tonya Harding was an ice skater who came from a poor upbringing in Portland, who through hard work and dedication made it to the 1991 U.S. Figure Skating Championships, which she won, and came in second in the World Championships. In 1994 she was to take on Nancy Kerrigan in the Olympic games but like a G, she hired some goons to break Kerrigan’s leg. Unfortunately they didn’t do much damage to Kerrigan and Harding’s husband ended up snitching on her to avoid jail time. Nancy Kerrigan went on to win a silver metal, Tonya Harding went on to plead guilty and was stripped of her 1994 championship.
It appears now that the Tonya Harding story is coming to a screen near you and  Margot Robbie, fresh off her role on The Wolf of Wall Street, is set to star in it. The film will be titled  “I, Tonya” and is still in its early stages. There’s no director yet but Robbie has taken it upon herself to try and find a filmmaker.Â
I’m totally here for watching this story play out on screen. I was just a kid when all of this was happening. Much like the OJ Simpson series, I feel like so much went down behind the scenes.Â
