It’s been several years since Stacey Dash’s exit from ‘Single Ladies’ and the story has been told in different variations. In Saturday’s episode of Centric’s “Being: LisaRaye McCoy,” LisaRaye lays down what she recalls happened before Stacey Dash left the show.
In previous interviews LisaRaye blamed Stacey’s exit on the show’s producers, but now it appears that’s not exactly how things went down.
“Yes, there was a disagreement over a scene,” said McCoy. “And it really wasn’t with me. It was with the director. I think it was about 2 or 3 a.m., and we’d been shooting all damn day. Stacey tried to argue with the director about a line. And I’m like: ‘Will you just do what the directors are telling you to do..’ I think she took it the wrong way.”
The director then recalls Stacey getting in LisaRaye’s face, sticking a finger in her face, and yelling at her.
“In Hollywood, I’ve learned to be a boss. I had to say to Stacey Dash, ‘if you don’t get your mothaf*ckin finger out my face..'” said LisaRaye. “So for our second season of ‘Single Ladies’ there was a replacement for Stacey Dash.”
Stacey Dash’s character, as we all know, was then written off the show and new girl, Denise Vasi, was introduced.
