Could it be possible that the decades-long search for the murder weapon used to kill Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman is finally over? That may indeed be the case, according to LAPD, who just recently obtained a knife that was found buried on O.J. Simpson’s former estate in Brentwood, California.
According to police, the knife was found sometime “ranging from ‘several years ago’ to 1998” on O.J.’s property, allegedly by a construction worker. The worker then turned it over to a traffic cop, who is now retired, but the officer did not turn it over to the LAPD until this past January. When asked why it took so long for him to turn it over, the former officer, who requested to remain anonymous, said that he thought it was too late at the time as the case was already closed.
It is very possible that this could be the knife…the one used to brutally murder Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman over 20 years ago. The LAPD is currently investigating and will run forensics tests on the knife to see if they can find any blood, hair, or other DNA matching the victims. Even if the tests do find something (which would be somewhat mind-blowing as well as end a two-decade-long mystery), it would still not affect O.J.’s fate as he can’t be tried for the murders a second time.
The knife used to kill Brown and Goldman was never found during the murder investigation, which was one of the primary factors that helped the jury to acquit Simpson back in 1995.
Theories floated around for years about what happened to the murder weapon. Many speculated that the late Robert Kardashian and other members of the defense team helped O.J. to hide it. Even more recently, gossip tabloids pointed fingers at Kris Jenner.
O.J. Simpson is currently serving a 33 year sentence in Lovelock, NV for an unrelated incident in 2007.
It’ll be at least a couple weeks before results come in on the knife, but you have to wonder what O.J. is thinking right about now.
