Just a day after a superior court judge ordered that the autopsy records of Bobbi Kristina Brown be unsealed, her cause of death has been revealed. Unfortunately, it’s nothing new that we didn’t already know.
According to the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s toxicology report marijuana, alcohol, “a cocaine-related substance” called benzoylecgonine, sedative and anti-anxiety medication benzodiazepines, and morphine were all found in Bobbi Kris’ system. The toxicology test could not determine whether the morphine was the result of heroin use.
The full cause of death was listed as pneumonia and encephalopathy — meaning that her lungs filled with water and she suffered a brain injury, most likely from the drowning and lack of oxygen to the brain.
“The underlying cause of death is the condition which starts the downhill course of events leading to death and in this case is the immersion associated with drug intoxication,” the medical examiner’s office said in the statement. “The pneumonia and encephalopathy are more immediate causes which resulted from the immersion and drug intoxication.”
Unfortunately, one the ME was still not able to determine whether or not there was foul play.
