Photos of former NBA star, Delonte West, in the parking lot of a Jack In The Box barefoot with a hospital gown, went viral last week and now there is an explanation as to how he ended up there.

Delonte West, who played in the league from 2004-2012, was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and depression in 2008. It explained his ongoing, destructive behavior. In 2012, West did an interview with The Washington Post claiming that he felt he was misdiagnosed and had stopped taking his medication.

Sources close to West say that he is receiving treatment for his bipolar disorder once again, but it was bad medicine that sent him wandering a Houston parking lot in February.  “Delonte was at a facility where he received the wrong medication,” a rep for West says. “He began hallucinating. Because of the hallucinations he walked out of the facility, barefoot, in the hospital gown. He went to go get food. That’s when he was video taped and photographed.”

Delonte West is reportedly at a different facility now, hopefully getting the proper treatment.
