Reports confirm that Jesús Alfredo Guzman Salazar, 29, the son of Mexican drug lord , Joaquin #ElChapo Guzman, has been kidnapped.
Salazar was among six men taken from La Leche, an upscale restaurant in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico on Monday. Eduardo Almaguer, Jalisco state Attorney General, said in a Tuesday news conference that Salazar’s kidnapping had “been confirmed by what was found in the vehicles and what security agencies found and the forensic examinations performed.”
Ivan Archivaldo Guzman, another son of El Chapo, is also rumored to be among the men abducted, though it has not been confirmed. Archivaldo assumed his father’s role in January when El Chapo was arrested again after escaping. The Associated Press reports that Archivaldo is considered a “junior”- a privileged youth in the cartel. His flashy persona on social media could have possibly angered OG drug lords that fly under the radar. National Autonomous University of Mexico Professor and security specialist, Raul Benitez believes Archivaldo was a “bit crazy”. “He spent all his time posting things on Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter. A serious narco doesn’t do that”, Benitez stated.
The kidnapping is said to be gang [cartel] related. The armed assailants are members of the Jalisco New Generation cartel, officials state. The victims kidnapped belong to JSNG rival, the Sinaloa cartel. There is said to be a war over the control of the Sinaloa cartel. The quickest way to do that is to attack the family.
Benitez confirmed, “There is a war right now for control of the Sinaloa cartel and a central theme in that war is the issue of attacks on his family. People have information about the family’s movements and they want to destroy the family.”
This recent attack on El Chapo is not the first. In 2008, his son Edgar was murdered in the Sinaloan mall, inciting a blood bath with the Beltran Levya drug cartel. #BallerAlert #InTheNews
