Former ‘Making The Band’ Star Suing BET

According to TMZ, Sara Stokes, formerly of MTV’s “Making The Band,” is suing BET over her portrayal on Centric’s new show, “From the Bottom Up.”

You may recall, Stokes and her husband have a very volatile relationship. In August 2009 Sarah was arrested for stabbing her husband in their Moreno Valley home. In April 2011, Stokes’ husband was arrested for choking her out. In August 2014 police were called to Stokes’ home where they found a drunken Stokes and her husband fighting on the ground outside. Sarah was arrested  and booked on domestic violence, but unfortunately because it was a probation violation from her previous DV incident, she spent the next 90 days behind bars.

Stokes says that she was approached by producers of “From the Bottom Up” while she sat in Saint Clair County Jail. The producers promised they could help her re-write her narrative and show her in a positive light if she appeared on the Queen Latifah produced reality show. Instead, Stokes says that she was bashed on the show and referred to as a man-beater. She now plans to sue BET for damaging her image.

Up until 4 days ago, Stokes appears to still be promoting the show, which has completed its first season, on her Instagram and Twitter pages. She hasn’t hinted at a lawsuit. In fact, she shows praises to Centric and BET.
