Choosing A Boyfriend Is Not The Same As Choosing A Husband

If we’re still picking the wrong guys in 2016, it’s us ladies, not them. A woman requires some degree of discernment when dating that we either haven’t achieved or is directly overlooking because of life circumstances or lack of maturity. While I’m sure that we’ve all had our fair share of mistakes, the million dollar question isn’t where all of the good men are hiding, but if we missed our chance of snagging one and if there’s still any out there.

Choosing a husband is very different from choosing a boyfriend. At one stage of your life, you’re looking for fun and adventure, and the other you’re seeking financial stability, consistency, an obtainable long-term goals. Maybe the men that we think are waiting for us haven’t shown up because they’re off the market, which in turns means that we didn’t play ball ladies. We picked the wrong GUYS, and we’re still paying for it!

Unfortunately, most of the good men that we strung along, kept curbside, or left in the friend zone while we were chasing another man knew exactly who and what they wanted when we didn’t and they eventually committed to someone else that was ready. That leaves us to deal with the quality of men that’s still out here. Whether we hold or fold, choose to settle or remain single, we have to own up to the fact that we choose our ideal mate and everything that comes with him.

Approaching a man the correct way sets the tone for your relationship. Hold on to your standards; be honest and upfront about your deal breakers, and tell him exactly what you’ll require in order  to grow in your relationship. Good men still exist, but we can’t expect a man to be ready when we finally decide to settle down because life just doesn’t work like that. We have to come to a relationship equally prepared and willing to offer what we require. Being honest about the type of man that we need vs. the type of man that we want can take us far in life.

Weeding out the boyfriend from the husband material isn’t that simple. You can meet a man today and he could possess all of the qualities you’re looking for, handsome, attentive, loyal, and financially stable and tomorrow he can completely flip the script and be looking for a different type of woman. You can never be too sure with anyone, but trusting is the first step in a successful relationship that will lead to a happy marriage.
