The Grammy Awards will be taking place on Monday and while all of the performances will be amazing this year, I’m especially looking forward to seeing Kendrick Lamar take the stage.
LL Cool J, this year’s host, spoke candidly with The Wrap about what we could expect from Monday’s ceremony, including K. Dot’s performance. “Kendrick Lamar is going to do something very controversial,” LL reveals. “And that’s what art is about. It’s not about whether you agree or disagree, it’s about it stimulating conversation and provoking people to have conversations about society. As an artist, if that’s what you want your art to do, if that’s the lane you choose, you’re accomplishing something if people are talking about what you’re doing.”
It looks like Kendrick could possibly be giving us a second helping of his infamous BET Awards cop car performance — or likely pushing the envelope even further.
Kendrick Lamar has been having a pretty great year. His latest album, “To Pimp A Butterfly” is certified platinum, he received the key to Compton over the weekend and he’s currently nominated for 11 Grammy Awards.
