Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy is under investigation by Philadelphia police after a reported fight early Sunday morning at Recess Lounge, a Philadelphia nightclub.
Police said the incident started over a bottle of champagne. According to sources who spoke with 6ABC Action News, a group of off duty police officers had ordered champagne at the club, and a member of McCoy’s group claimed the bottles were theirs. An argument turned into a fight. Police said one off duty officer was knocked to the ground and was punched, kicked and stomped about the body and head. Another off duty officer and club security broke up the fight, and everyone involved was removed from the club.
Two officers were reportedly hurt. One had a cut near his eye, a broken nose, broken ribs and a sprained thumb. The other needed stitches above his eye and was treated for a possible skull fracture. Police said four men, ages 26 to 30, are being investigated, and McCoy is one of them.
Per 6ABC’s sources, the officers and security guards identified the men from photographs. Surveillance video reportedly shows the group being escorted out of the club, but the camera that would have captured the fight itself was not working that night.
McCoy had not released a statement at the time of this post, and no charges had been announced. The Bills said they are looking into the matter on their own. These are allegations, and McCoy is presumed innocent.
