According to The Hollywood Reporter, Morgan Freeman has joined the cast of Disney’s live action film, “The Nutcracker”.
Freeman, has the role of the Drosselmeyer, who is a godfather, toy maker, clock maker, and a magician all wrapped in one.
The live action film is based on the 1816 story “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King” by E.T.A. Hoffmann and tells the tale of a girl named Clara whose parents place her in charge of taking care of a Christmas toy Nutcracker doll. The toy Nutcracker then comes to life and defeats an evil Mouse King with seven heads. The story was then made into a ballet in 1892 by Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The Nutcracker has served as a holiday favorite for generations.
Freeman will act alongside Misty Copeland who is the lead ballerina.
