Rapper Yasiin Bey, formerly known as Mos Def, was arrested and charged Thursday by the South African Police Service (SAPS) for usage of fraudulent travel documents.
Home Affairs ministerial spokesperson Mayihlome Tshwete stated, “Mr. Smith has been living in SA with his family without the necessary permits‚ he was detained upon departure for using illegal travel documents.”
Mos Def has already cancelled a planned tour of the United States due to “legal and immigration issues.”
Hopefully everything works out for him and his family.
