An 8-year old boy has started his own home bakery to fund a new home for his mother. Jalen Bailey bakes a variety of cookies, bread, muffins and other delectable goodies to be sold within his neighborhood of Fresno, California.
When talking about the new home, Bailey told KFSN-TV, “I just want one that me and my mom can be happy in,” Clearly Bailey gets his entrepreneurial side from his mother, Sharhonda Mahan, who has had her own side business since she was 18.
While Mahan supports her son completely, she admits that it was hard to accept the fact that he started the business to help her out. “It was a little overwhelming because it was something that I couldn’t do for him,” she said.
After attending a networking event for cooking entrepreneurs, Jalen made some major connections and even got one man to donate a used oven so he can continue on with his business. Shout out to Jalen for making his idea a reality.
