Old untested rape kits have become a huge problem in the United States. In 2009 alone, 11,341 untested rape kits were discovered in an abandoned storage unit in Detroit.  Roughly 81% of those rape kits belonged to black women It costs. $490 to test each one of them.  Finally, people are coming forward to do their part in getting justice for potential rape victims.

In August, Erykah Badu raised more than $50,000 to help get those rape kits tested. Now, Detroit Lions linebacker DeAndre Levy, has stepped up.

Last week, Levy posted a photo of his new #OurIssue t-shirts on Instagram. In the caption he talks about sexual assault not just being a woman’s issue, but everyone’s issue. He says that all proceeds from the sales of these t-shirts will go to Detroit’s Enough SAID organization which raises private sector funding to test more than 11,000 forgotten rape kits, investigate the crimes and prosecute the resulting cases to secure justice and closure for victims, and ensure a safer community for everyone.

Back in April, Levy previously spoke about sexual assault against women, asking men to man up when they see or hear someone doing something wrong. He’s also spoken up on social injustice and other causes.
