New Orleans rapper Dee-1 has been featured on Baller Alert quite a few times, from his BET Hip Hop Awards cypher appearance in 2014, to his most recent collaboration with ESPN’s all-black sports blog “The Undefeated.” Now, it’s Dee-1’s efforts towards giving back to future college grads that’s caught our attention.
Many got hip to Dee-1 through his widely successful song “Sallie Mae Back,” in which he raps about finally becoming financially free from student loans. It’s landed him spots on The Real, CNN and several other outlets. Now the New Orleans star will be embarking on a nationwide college tour sponsored by the student loan company.
Dee-1’s Knowledge For College Tour with Sallie Mae, will focus on the importance of preparing for college, borrowing responsibly and the various ways college students can repay their loans. Also, he and Sallie Mae are giving one lucky student at each tour stop $5,000 towards their financial freedom.

Aside from paying off his student loans, Dee-1 also boasts about life without a car note in his new song “No Car Note.” It looks like when it comes to Ballerific Finances, he can give a pointer or two.
