A Las Vegas woman is claiming that her now 18 month old son has suffered irreversible injuries due to her doctors negligence during labor and delivery. Even worse, she caught the drunken doctor talking about how they had jus returned from happy hour.
Alex Sims’ son Jared suffers from Erb’s palsy, paralysis to his arm due to nerve damage. Sims blames this on Dr. Frank DeLee at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, who delivered Jared on May 16, 2015.
“Before I even saw him, I smelled the alcohol,” Sheree Sims, Alex’s mom tells Us Weekly.
Aside from the smell of booze, DeLee entered the delivery room clad in Bermuda shorts. In cell phone footage captured by Sheree Sims, DeLee is heard saying, “Wasn’t that many people in the bar when I left.” A nurse then asks: “I’m sorry. Did you waste a drink?” Later during the conversation the nurse asks DeLee if he had been drinking Belvedere, to which he responds “No, tequila.”
While all of this was going on, Alex was experiencing excruciating pain due to her epidural continuously wearing off. “One of the things he said was ‘Scoot your fat ass down.’ That’s not something you tell somebody that’s having a child. Then he goes, ‘I bet you wish your doctor was in town,’” said the 28 year old school teacher.
“I’m in shock that he’s still practicing medicine,” Alex tells Us. “He should lose his license.”
Obviously the Sims family has brought forth a lawsuit against DeLee for negligence. If Alex’s mom really captured what she did on video, it’s safe to say that she has a huge malpractice suit on her hands.
