The Atlanta Falcons have parted ways with rookie linebacker Torrey Green after reports surfaced in August 2016 that he is the subject of sexual assault allegations dating back to his time at Utah State. Green signed with the team as a free agent in April.
According to reports, two women have accused Green of sexual assault. The first allegation is from January 2015. The woman told authorities that she went to Green’s apartment and that he had sex with her after she said no. Reports state she went to a campus sexual assault center that same night. Green has denied wrongdoing. He reportedly told investigators that he stopped when she showed hesitation.
The second allegation is from November 2015. A second woman told police that after a party where both had been drinking, she was in a room with Green and did not consent. Reports say she went to police and had an exam done, but later became less cooperative with investigators. The case was nonetheless passed along to the district attorney, according to reports. A third woman also reportedly went to police in November 2015 and alleged unwanted touching.
Green has not been charged, and these remain allegations. The Falcons waived him. Team owner Arthur Blank was reported to have said the organization does not want anyone connected to the team who faces accusations like these.
