On July 16, 2012, after an incident at a Boston nightclub, two men were shot and killed in a drive-by style double-homicide.
Two years later, ex-NFL baller Aaron Hernandez, 27, was accused and charged with two counts of first-degree murder. At that time, the former New England Patriots tight-end was already in jail awaiting trial for the 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd.
Two years after that, Hernandez was identified by one of the two men who survived the shooting in 2012.
On Tuesday, Raychides Sanches took the witness stand at a pre-trial hearing and pointed out the former baller as the triggerman, reports state.
Hernandez’ attorney Jose Baez asked Sanches what the shooter looked like. Sanches responded, “Looked like him,” and tilted his head in Hernandez’ direction. “Hernandez.”
According to reports, the witness said he was in the car with the two men, Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado when the shooter fired several shots into the car, leaving both men dead.
Hernandez is currently serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole, for the murder of his fiancé’s sister’s boyfriend, Odin Lloyd. He was convicted and sentenced last year. If convicted for the 2012 double-murder, he will face additional life sentences.
The trial is set to begin February 13th.
