A 42 year old Compton woman named Laura was arrested Wednesday in connection with the December 5 fight at Avenue nightclub in New York that involved NBA players Matt Barnes and DeMarcus Cousins, according to reports.
Police say Laura is accused of throwing a bottle at a woman’s face inside the club. She was with Cousins and Barnes when the fight broke out and was arrested on suspicion of assault and attempted assault. She has since been released on bail and is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
The fight has also led to a civil suit. Jasmine and Myrone filed suit against Barnes and Cousins. Jasmine accused Barnes of choking her, while Myrone accused Cousins of punching, stomping and kicking him when he stepped in during the altercation. Sources told reporters at the time that Barnes was the one attacked and that neither Kings player started the confrontation, though those claims were unconfirmed.
