Safety Eric Weddle is not too happy with the San Diego Chargers organization right now. After getting placed on injured reserve for the rest of the year, meaning he’ll be missing the last game of the season and his chances of getting released by the team will increase as a result, Weddle also found out that he is getting fined for watching his daughter’s performance during a game.
On December 20, during halftime at the Chargers-Dolphins game, Weddle stayed on the sidelines so that he could watch his daughter perform with the Chargers cheerleading squad. Players are required to go in the locker room according to team policy, in case there are important changes at halftime that need to be discussed. “We have a policy here,” Chargers head coach Mike McCoy said. “And a situation took place two weeks ago in our stadium. So yes, we did fine him.” The fine assessed against Weddle will be $10,000.
There is already bad blood between Weddle and the Chargers, and this latest development just adds fuel to the fire. Sources say that after spending nine years with the team, it’s highly probable that Weddle will not be playing for the Chargers much longer.
