The Game has scored a victory and won’t be seeing any jail time after being accused of assaulting an off-duty police officer during a pickup basketball game in 2015. Authorities said the rapper intentionally fouled, then sucker-punched the officer who had just stolen the ball and scored a basket. As a result, he was ejected from the game. Weeks later, Game is accused of grabbing and threatening a man filming him being served with legal papers outside his house. Prosecutors say he took the man’s camera and refused to return it.
On Monday, after pleading no contest to one misdemeanor count of criminal threats and a misdemeanor count of battery, Game was sentenced to three years of formal probation, 120 hours of community service and 26 anger management counseling sessions. Considering that he originally thought he’d be looking at three years behind bars, this isn’t so bad.
Game also pleaded no contest to one felony count of grand theft in connection with the incident involving the man’s camera.
