Magic Johnson Looks to Kobe Bryant to Help Rebuild the Lakers

Earlier this month, the Los Angeles Lakers organization announced that Earvin “Magic” Johnson will be returning to LA as an adviser to the team’s owner, Jeanie Buss. Now as Johnson and Buss prepare to restructure the organization, in an effort to revive the franchise, Johnson is looking to summon additional help.

According to reports, the first order of business for the Hall of Famer is to recruit the recently retired Lakers legend, Kobe Bryant.

“First call I make if I’m in charge? Kobe Bryant,” Johnson said on ESPN’s First Take. “Because Kobe understands winning. He understands, also, these players. I would call: ‘What role you want? … If you’ve got a day, just give me that day.’ I’ll take that. Whatever time he has, I want him to come and be a part of it,” Johnson said.

Luckily for Johnson, just last month, Bryant told Stephen A. Smith that he would be willing to help out his former team if need be.

“I’m always around behind the scenes for Jeanie, Jimmy, and the entire Buss family if they need assistance or if it be to reach out or call for advice and things of that nature,” he said.

Both Johnson and Bryant have each had a hand in five championship victories for the Lakers. However, in recent years, the team has fallen short.

But with the Hall of Famer and the Black Mamba back in LA, who knows what can happen with the team.

What are your thoughts?
