Donald Trump may be making his way back to the little screen, as HBO has announced that they will be releasing a miniseries recounting the events of the 2016 presidential election.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, similar to the 2012 film Game Change which chronicled John McCain’s unsuccessful presidential run alongside his Vice President nominee Sarah Palin, HBO will illustrate Trump’s unconventional run and subsequent upset.
The network has tapped Jay Roach to direct the miniseries, pulling from the book about Trump’s victory over his opponent Hillary Clinton, which was written by Mark Halperin and John Heilmann. According to reports, the duo also worked on the film Game Change after providing the source material from their bestselling book of the same name.
“We are thrilled to continue our relationship with Mark Halperin and John Heilemann, whose work on their bestselling book Game Change, set the bar for political reporting and storytelling inside a presidential campaign,” the networks’ Films president said. “Reuniting ‘Game Change’ director and executive producer Jay Roach and Playtone producers Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman with Mark and John for a project based on their upcoming book promise to vividly capture the most unite and impactful event in modern American politics.”
There have been no actors selected for the new untitled project, just yet.
