After a quarter-century in motion, the MTV Movie Awards will be adding a new honor to its annual celebration, TV Shows.
The new show will be titled, #MTV Movie & TV Awards, scheduled to kick off on May 7th. While last year’s production was prerecorded, this year, MTV will go live from Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium for their 25th anniversary.
“We’re living in a golden age of content, and great storytelling and characters resonate regardless of whether you’re watching it in a theater or on TV,” the network’s president, #ChrisMcCarthy, said. “The new ‘MTV Movie & TV Awards’ will celebrate even more of the brightest, bravest, funniest and most shared films and TV show resonating across youth culture.”
In addition to the live celebration of our favorite movies and television shows, the network will host a series of events for fans to participate in leading up to the big show. According to reports, MTV will be introducing a “Movie and Television Festival,” complete with the works, including performances, food and special guests. However, further details regarding this year’s host, nominees and performer have yet to be revealed.
The show will be executive produced by Casey Patterson, alongside MTV’s Garrett English.
