Chance The Rapper and ex-girlfriend, Kirsten Corley, have been off and on again with their relationship, but that doesn’t mean they can’t come together for the sake of their 18-month-old daughter, Kensli.
The former couple originally reached a parenting agreement in June 2016 that was dependant on the pair living under the same roof. After the two mutually decided to live in separate residences, they went back to court.
The two appeared in court Monday and reached what Chance’s lawyer called a “fair resolution for everyone.”
The details of the new agreement have not been made public, but according to Chance’s lawyer, it covers child support and provides “substantial parenting time for both.” Both sides have agreed to keep documents pertaining to the case confidential.
“The parties have reached a full agreement. The case is concluded,” said Tanya Stanish, one of Chance’s attorneys. “I’m going to give major credit to Chance and Kirsten for working together to reach a deal that’s fair for their daughter, fair for them both.”
According to Kirsten’s attorney, “This case ended quickly because of the unusually high level of cooperation between the parents putting their child’s best interest first.”
“Really, that’s the way it should be done,” he continued. “And when you settle between yourselves, you leave nothing to chance.”
It’s refreshing to see when two people can truly put their differences aside for their child. Now that’s how you co-parent.
