Jermaine Dupri feels that he is just what the doctor ordered when it comes to Iggy Azalea’s career. During a recent appearance on the Wendy Williams Show, Dupri recalls a time he tried to sign Iggy and she curved him. He also says that he is just what her career needs .
Wendy asked Jermaine his thoughts on Iggy Azalea and whether she made the right decision by stepping away from social media. “She needs somebody like me in her life,” said Dupri. “I tried to sign her from the beginning. I called her. I sent her a tweet. I think she thought I was trying to get at her because she is fine.”
“I think at this particular time she had a record called “P*ssy.” I sent her a message like, ‘I like you. I think you’re dope. I would love to sign you.’ She kind of gave me the ‘send my manager, hit my manager.’”
Dupri goes on to say that Iggy’s approach didn’t make him not like her and says that she is very talented. “I just feel like artists don’t know everything. That’s why you have a mentor like myself, or you have a Clive Davis, or an LA Reid. These people are out there to hold them down.”
Do you think Iggy would have been better off under Jermaine Dupri’s wing?
