Comedian Charlie Murphy Loses Battle To Leukemia

Charlie Murphy, comedian, actor and older brother of Eddie Murphy, has died, according to reports from TMZ.

Murphy’s manager tells the publication that the comedian lost his battle to leukemia and passed away Wednesday morning, in a New York hospital where he had been receiving chemotherapy. He was 57 years old.

Charlie Murphy most recently embarked on “The Comedy Get Down” tour alongside Cedric the Entertainer, Eddie Griffin, George Lopez and D.L. Hughley. He famously guest-starred in several episodes of David Chappelle’s “Chappelle’s Show,” where he recounted hanging out with the likes of Rick James and Prince.  Charlie Murphy is also credited for co-writing some of Eddie Murphy’s movies, like “Norbit” and “Vampire in Brooklyn,” and co-starring in “Are We There Yet?,” “The Boondocks” and “Black Jesus.”
