Ballerific Beauty: Winter Beauty Secrets

You served us this summer with your beautiful tan, and fall was no different with your fabulous layers, now, winter is upon us; and depending on where you live, that means cold temperatures, drying winds, and grey skies, the perfect season to hibernate. But every woman knows, there is no time for that! Don’t let this daunting season deter you from your year long fabulouseness; use these tips to help you stay flawless this winter.

Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize

This is the most important tip of them all, as winter months tend to dry out everything from our hair to our skin. To avoid that, be sure you up the moisture, both internally and externally. Water is known to improve skin, which will help you appear supple and help maintain hydration and health.  Externally, use a heavier moisturizer than you would typically use in the summer months, Coco Butter or Shea Butter are two good examples of heavy moisturizers that will keep you hydrated to the touch, and last throughout the day.  Same goes for your hair, use a heavier moisturizer, that will withstand your winter hat, the winter winds, and the changing temperatures: Shea Moisture’s moisturizer along with a ton of other cream moisturizers, are good examples.

Change Makeup

The face makeup you buy in the summer, may not be the same in the winter; the huge difference in temperature, means you aren’t sweating as much, and the lack of sun, means your complexion may be a little different. Instead of using the foundation you purchased for your beautifully bronzed tan, purchase a color more forgiving to your paler complexion. Also, mascaras, face brushes, beauty sponges, eye liners etc. are all things that carry bacteria and should be replaced often; take advantage of all the winter sales and Christmas deals, and swap out your old tools.

Stay Fit

Hibernation most always entails, weight gain, and again: Ain’t nobody got time for that. Be sure to maintain your summer body, by staying on top of your diet and fitness, and not completely veering off track. If maintaining isn’t your goal, and you have new fitness goals instead, winter is the perfect time to begin working on those, using trial and error to figure out what works for you. Once the summer rolls back around, and everyone is scrambling to lose twenty pounds, you will be amongst the few who are already ready.

Keep Up With The Winter Trends

Oversized sweaters, long trench coats, snow boots, and layers, are just a few trends that seem to be gracing us this winter. Don’t look outdated in your crop tops, and sandals. Stay informed and up to date on what is in style, and incorporate it with your own personal style.

Keep Your Immune System in Check

There is nothing cute about constantly wasting away your expensive foundation with every sneeze, or trying to look cute with puffy eyes. Therefore, your internal health is critical for your outside beauty. Take a multi vitamin, or an immune booster throughout the colder months, to make sure you don’t catch any of the germs going around.

Fake it Til You Make It

If you had a beautiful tan this summer, and you can’t stand to see it go, there are a variety of affordable methods to keep up that golden glow year round. I’m not a huge advocate for tanning beds, as they are dangerous, however there are tons of places that offer spray tanning, airbrush tans, and services alike. If those are too expensive, there are cheaper at home options, such as Sally Hansen’s Airbrush Legs, and lotions that offer gradual bronzing over time.

Winter is rough, but it doesn’t mean you have to be. Follow these above tips, and you are guaranteed to be a winter wonder!
