It has been announced that music executive, L.A. Reid, is stepping down from his post as chairman/CEO of Epic Records, a position he’s held for six years. This news comes after Rob Stringer, former Columbia Records chief,  was named CEO of Sony Music Entertainment back in April.
Neither Epic nor their parent company, Sony Music, have provided further details regarding Reid’s departure. During his tenure at the label, L.A. Reid has overseen projects by Future, DJ Khaled, Travi$ Scott and A Tribe Called Quest, who reunited in 2016. He also brought Meghan Trainor, Fifth Harmony and Mariah Carey into the label upon his arrival in 2011.
Where L.A. Reid lands after this remains to be seen. I’m sure he’ll be good wherever he goes.
