Kellyanne Conway Says the Media is ‘Obsessed’ with Trump’s Tweets

Donald Trump’s Twitter has become one of the biggest topics of his presidency but instead of suggesting that he refrain from tweeting, the counselor to the president is condemning the media for covering his ignorance.

Over the weekend, tragedy struck in London after three men attacked pedestrians on the London Bridge. In response, the mayor addressed the citizens of the city, warning of the increased police presence, saying “there is no reason to be alarmed.” However, in normal Trump fashion, he spoke on the statement prematurely and took Mayor Sadiq Khan’s “don’t be alarmed” comment out of context.

“At least 7 dead and 48 wounded in terror attack and Mayor of London says there is “no reason to be alarmed,” Trump tweeted in an early morning tweet storm. When told he may have taken the statement out of context, Trump continued to attack the Mayor, forcing Khan to call to cancel their meeting.

Despite the fact Trump was loud and wrong, Kellyanne Conway believes criticism directed at Trump over his twitter rant is misguided. According to Conway, the media has “this obsession with covering everything he says on Twitter and very little of what he does as president.” She blames the media for the backlash against Trump’s attack on Khan.

“I’m not going to allow, a day-and-a-half after terrorist did it again, whether they’re ISIS-inspired or ISIS-directed, they’re savage murderers, it’s an evil slaughter as the president said last night,” Conway said on Monday when asked if she thought the Donald should apologize for misleadingly quoting Khan. “I’m not going to let him be seen as the perpetrator here. For every time you said, Russia, imagine if you said ISIS. Every time you say Twitter, imagine if you said terrorist.”

“So we’ve got the 23^rd ISIS-inspired or -directed attack taking innocent lives, children in Manchester, children in Nice and we want to know – we want to put some blameworthiness here on President Trump?” she continued. “I’m just not going to allow it.”
