Tupac Shakur and Madonna were once an item and in a handwritten letter from prison, Tupac revealed to the pop queen that he called it quits because she was white.
“For you to be seen with a black man wouldn’t in any way jeopardize your career – if anything it would make you seem that much more open and exciting,” the rapper wrote in the letter dated January 15, 1995. “But for me, at least in my previous perception, I felt due to my ‘image,’ I would be letting down half of the people who made me what I thought I was. I never meant to hurt you.”
In the letter, Pac also revealed that he felt a way about an interview Madonna did in which he recalls her saying,”‘I’m off to rehabilitate all the rappers and basketball players’ or something to that effect.”
Tupac admits to growing up both spiritually and mentally and said he’s no longer a “young man with limited experience with an extremely famous sex symbol.” He offers her the opportunity to “speak face to face” and says, “It’s funny, this experience has taught me not to take time for granted.”
The note is scheduled to go up for action from July 19th to 28th at the Gotta Have Rock and Roll sale. They are the same company responsible for auctioning Tupac’s handwritten “Dear Mama” lyrics and his handwritten album tracklist.
