Just one day after reports surfaced about Steve Bannon’s rogue interviews, new reports reveal that the chief strategist is out of a job at the White House.
Although the White House has yet to announce any changes to Bannon’s position, a source close to Bannon told ABC News that his resignation was effective August 14th, just one day before Trump defended him to reporters.
“I like Mr. Bannon. He’s a friend of mine. But Mr. Bannon came on very late. You know that. I went through 17 senators, governors, and I won all the primaries. Mr. Bannon came on very much later than that,” Trump said, adding “but we’ll see what happens with Mr. Bannon.”
Although initial reports said it was Trump’s idea to remove Bannon, sources close to the chief strategist say it was his decision to resign, as he submitted a letter one week before it reportedly became effective.
