My Open Letter To Cam Newton

The Carolina Panthers took on the Washington Redskins on Sunday in a blow out that brought their standing to 10-0. Much like the mom in Tennessee last week, I found myself compelled to write Cam Newton a letter. You see, there were some actions the NFL star took that I just can’t get over. Read my open letter below.

Dear Cam Newton,

I am the concerned mother of a son and I must say, yesterday’s display was by far the most thuggish behavior I’ve ever experienced in professional football.

Yesterday I witnessed you give away touchdown footballs to five young kids. How arrogant of you! How dare you bring smiles to those little strangers’ faces. I’m sure they will remember this day forever and I am completely disgusted. I’m disgusted that you would fix yourself to put the feelings of other people before your own. What about the balls, Cam? Did you even stop to think about how the balls feel? I’m disgusted!

First you dab, which that other Tennessee mom found completely offensive. I wish she had mentioned that after you dabbed, you gave the ball to a kid. I would have totally written this letter earlier. I would never want my son to look up to someone like you. Someone who cares about making lasting memories for others, despite whether or not they may receive a fine for it. I’d rather my kid listen to gangster rap.

I’m calling for Cam Newton to be removed from professional sports permanently. The last thing the NFL needs is a good hearted person. I was perfectly okay with criminalizing everything black professional athletes do. Why did you have to go and mess that up, Cam? I’ll be starting my petition immediately. There’s no room for role models in sports!
