Spike Lee and Jordan Peele are teaming up for a new film, “Black Klansman”. The film will be an adaption of a memoir about a Black police officer who infiltrated the Ku Klux Klan. Son of Denzel Washington and star of HBO’s “Ballers”, John David Washington, is in negotiations to star in the film.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The team of producers will include not only Lee and Peele, but also Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions, Sean McKittrick, Shaun Redick and Raymond Mansfield of QC Entertainment.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The movie will be based off of the true story on Ron Stallworth, a Colorado Springs detective, who in 1978 answered a local newspaper ad that was seeking new Klan members. Not only did Stallworth join the Klan, but he rose to become head of the local chapter. Stallworth was able to gather Klan information while pretending to be a white supremacist over the phone and sending a white fellow police officer in his place to any in-person meetings. During this time, Stallworth was able to sabotage countless cross burnings and other hate group activities.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There is no official word on the release date of the film, but following the legendary work of Spike Lee and the Jordan Peele’s debut of the 2017’s “Get Out,” this film is sure to break the box office.
