As the league heads into week 6 of the 2017-18 regular season, Dallas Cowboys’ Ezekiel Elliott may be heading to the bench after the team’s bye, as a federal appeals court just lifted the injunction that blocked his six-game suspension.
Prior to the start of the season, the league passed down a six-game suspension for domestic violence allegations against Elliott. Despite the fact that the victims’ claims had been compromised and Elliott had never been charged with a crime, the league suspended the running back for violating its personal conduct policy.
In turn, Elliott’s legal team fired back, prompting a federal judge in Texas to issue an injunction that would block the suspension, as he believed the investigation into allegations as well as his subsequent appeal (which was denied), were unfair to Elliott.

However, on Thursday, the 5th Circuit ruled 2-1 in favor of the NFL that the district court did not have subject matter jurisdiction in Elliott’s case. However, according to reports, the NFLPA is expected to re-file to seek a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction to keep Elliott on the field. ⠀⠀⠀
Elliott maintains his innocence in the matter.
