Let’s Talk: Dating Multiple People At Once

Dating

There are many people who view serial dating in a negative way, but in the quick-paced society we live in today, it’s typical for people to date more than one person. For some, it’s the best way to find out what you’re really looking for, it’s time-efficient, and a great way to meet some cool people while you’re waiting to find your true match. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Personally, I don’t care for it. It’s already a lot of effort to keep up with one person; it would feel like a full-time job if I had to balance even more. And if I know someone is loyal and has potential, they’re my main focus. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

But even if you’re single like me or usually a monogamous person, what’s really the harm in dating multiple people at once? It can actually be empowering; dating more than one person puts you in control of your love life and also provides cushion if you fall out with someone. You’ll always have a Plan B — and C… and D.

It can also be a major confidence-booster when you’re getting interest and compliments from more than one person. It’s a simple way to build communication skills and character, and you’re less likely to be down if it doesn’t work out, too. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Also, as women, we sometimes tend to romanticize the idea of a relationship prematurely: we might imagine a scenario with someone immediately after hitting it off (maybe even read their horoscope to see if we’re compatible), only to find that the spark has diminished by the next couple of conversations. Serial dating can help prevent you from falling for someone before it’s appropriate to. ⠀⠀

When you’re ready to date one person, don’t keep seeing the others. But while you’re waiting on that someone to make it official, have fun, be honest and be safe.
