Mel B Claims Stephen Belafonte Drugged Her Throughout Their 10-Year Marriage and Recorded Sex Tapes Without Her Consent

On Wednesday, Mel B provided new details about the singer’s failed marriage to her estranged husband Stephen Belafonte. Mel, whose real name is Melanie Brown, claimed Belafonte drugged her throughout their relationship and recorded sex tapes without her consent, The Sun reports.

“Miss Brown now takes the position she was drugged by Mr. Belafonte through the course of the marriage,” Belafonte’s lawyer Phillip Cohen said at the former couple’s court proceeding. However, according to PEOPLE, the claims were quickly refuted, as Belafonte’s team accused Brown of curating a “smear campaign.”

In addition to the new development, Brown accused Belafonte of recording several videos of her without consent. According to reports, the singer’s team said Belafonte had at least 56 videos, 20 of which were sex tapes. However, Cohen said in court that Brown revealed to Belafonte’s lawyers that she was drugged before the videos.

Cohen continued, saying Brown claimed Belafonte reportedly threatened to blackmail her with the tapes if she ever tried to leave him. “For 10 years Ms. Brown tried to get out of this relationship and every time she tried to get out she was threatened with these tapes,” he said, however, Brown’s team says Cohen exaggerated her statements.

Amid the back and forth between lawyers for both parties, the judge guaranteed that he would get the case back under control before the trial begins on November 6.

“This case has gotten a little bit out of control and I am going to do what I can to get it back to where it needs to be,” he said. The case trial is expected to last two weeks, and some of Brown’s sex tapes may be show in court, reports state.
