Just weeks after the initial meeting between NFL players and owners to discuss racial issues within the community and possible solutions regarding the national anthem controversy, Colin Kaepernick has reportedly agreed to attend the next meeting.
According to Yahoo Sports, Kaepernick has agreed to sit down with the same people he recently filed a grievance against. Sources tell the publication that the meeting will take place sometime next week, to continue the discussion about league’s involvement in social activism.
Although Kaepernick was invited to the first meeting, he declined in fear that the NFL would be opposed to his attendance. This time, however, the league says it looks forward to the conversation, as several players have said Kaepernick is important to their efforts against racial inequality.
While the league’s national anthem policy remains the same, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has expressed that he would prefer players to stand during the anthem. But, it is still not required.
