Chicago Bears defensive tackle Ego Ferguson has received a four game suspension without pay for violating the NFL’s policy against performance-enhancing drugs. Though a patellar tendon injury in one of his knees already has Ferguson out for the season, he will begin serving his suspension immediately. According to the Chicago Tribune, this essentially means he’ll be fined four weeks worth of his salary, which would come out to $142,815.
Ferguson is the third Bears player to be suspended this week. Backup offensive tackle Tayo Fabuluje was suspended after testing positive for an amphetamine.  Fabuluje states he took a supplement that did not list any banned substances on the label.  Practice squad wide receiver Jalen Saunders was suspended this week.
The Chicago Bears can’t afford any more suspensions as a team.
