Baller Alert Radio: “The Culture Deserves It,” featuring your lifestyle specialist Kenny Burns, with Ferrari Simmons and Su Solo, kicked off its 14th episode with a recap of the hottest topics and current events from the previous week.
In case you missed it, the hosts kicked off the show with a discussion about the marijuana business and rapper Cardi B. The hosts discussed the Bronx rapper’s personality and how they would enjoy a daily program, featuring Cardi. What would her talk show be called? The hosts then jumped into this week’s Donald Dump shenanigans. The Celebrity-in-Chief called out Marshawn Lynch after the Oakland Raiders baller sat during the National Anthem and stood for the Mexican anthem prior to the team’s game in Mexico City. Trump called for Lynch’s suspension as a result of his actions, prompting Lynch’s mother to step in to defend her son. However, that was not the only black athlete Trump attacked in the past week. Donald Dump also called out LaVar Ball on Twitter for his refusal to thank him for his role in bringing his son home from China after his shoplifting arrest. The hosts then touched on Serena Williams’ star-studded wedding, where she tied the knot with Alexis Ohanian.
As the segment continued, the hosts discussed the sexual assault allegations against Russell Simmons, who denied any non-consensual sexual encounter. Though the host refused to believe the accusations against Simmons, Burns disclosed his conspiracy theory about the entire situation. Amid the increased allegations against the white powerhouses in politics and Hollywood, the hosts said “they” in turn throw people of color into the fire to take the heat off of them. Burns then transitioned to an American Music Awards recap, where they discussed the night’s winners and Christina Aguilera’s Whitney Houston Tribute. Do you think Deborah Cox should have done it instead?
In the following segment, Ferrari spoke about relationships and challenged listeners to refrain from blaming others for ruining a good thing and to take a look at themselves. Are you the toxic one in a relationship? The hosts discussed that many fail to realize that relationships are about compromise, instead, they blame their partner for the problems that they have instead of working on a solution that will satisfy both parties.
Su Solo then kicked off this week’s Comment Creepin, featuring Gabby Douglas and former teammate Aly Raisman. After Raisman called out her followers for victim-shaming her, Douglas followed up with a bit more shame, telling her that we (as women) should ultimately cover up to refrain from being a victim of sexual assault. In turn, Simone Biles chimed in, condemning Douglas’ statement. Douglas then apologized for her initial statement, and later even revealed that she too had been a victim of sexual assault.
At the end of the episode, as usual, Kenfucious dropped some jewels for the culture: “Trust Your Journey, embrace life’s pleasures and pains as equal opportunities.”
