Just days after NBC News fired longtime Today host Matt Lauer for “inappropriate sexual behavior,” his wife Annette has reportedly left their home in the Hamptons on Long Island and traveled to the Netherlands, where she is from.
According to Page Six, Annette was last seen at the house on Wednesday, the same day NBC announced Lauer’s firing. A source told the outlet she went to her family’s home near Amsterdam. It is unclear whether the couple’s three children went with her or stayed in New York.
Annette has not released a statement, and Lauer’s representatives declined to comment on the state of the marriage. The couple have been married for 20 years. People previously reported that she filed for divorce in 2006 but did not go through with it. Page Six also cited a source who said Lauer offered her $5 million at the time to stay in the marriage.
None of those claims about the couple’s past have been confirmed by Lauer or Annette.
