As the sexual misconduct allegations against Harvey Weinstein continue to mount, new horrifying details have surfaced about the former powerhouse film producer.

Like many other women, actress Salma Hayek has accused Weinstein of inappropriate sexual behavior. However, in an essay for the New York Times, Hayek also details a terrifying physical altercation at the hands of Weinstein.

According to the Oscar-nominated actress, the incident occurred during the making of the 2002 biopic, “Frida.” In the essay, Hayek says Weinstein asked her for sexual favors and “physically dragged” her out of a party so that she could “hang out at his private party with him.” She also said he threatened her life after she refused his unwanted sexual advances.

“I will kill you, don’t think I can’t,” Hayek says Weinstein threatened.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Although Hayek kept her allegations under wraps, the situation affected her mentally and emotionally, as she believed “nobody would care about my pain.”

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Hayek detailed the time on set with Weinstein, who she described as her “monster” too. She said she had to deny many of his advances, in addition to many of his career demands, such as firing her agent. Hayek also accused Weinstein of forcing her to film an unwritten full-frontal sex scene with another woman, solely for his personal enjoyment. She said the thought of it made her sick – so sick that she had to take a tranquilizer to get through it. However, in the wake of the traumatic experience, the film was a success.

“I hope that adding my voice to the chorus of those who are finally speaking out will shed light on why it is so difficult, and why so many of us have waited so long,” Hayek wrote. “Men sexually harassed because they could. Women are talking today because, in this new era, we finally can.”
