On Friday morning, XXXTentacion stood before a judge to discuss his recent bond violations, which stemmed from his 2016 domestic violence case.

A judge ordered the rapper to be sent to jail without bail after prosecutors slapped seven new felony charges on his case. Earlier this year, Pitchfork released the disturbing details of XXXTentacion’s abuse against his then-girlfriend. In the 142-page testimony from the alleged victim, she claimed XXXTentacion abused her while she was pregnant, threatened to kill her, locked her in a room and threatened to penetrate her with a barbecue pitchfork. Although the rapper denied the claims, he was arrested and charged with battery against a pregnant woman and false imprisonment. The incident occurred while he was already out on bond in a separate case.

Months later, XXXTentacion was accused of witness tampering after filing a document allegedly signed by the victim that said she was no longer interested in pursuing charges. Officials questioned the authenticity of the document and have since added new charges on his case, including different degrees of witness tampering and harassment, TMZ reports.

“He will be held in custody pending trial,” a spokesperson told Pitchfork. “Crimes committed by a defendant after receiving a bond on a previous case always leads to them being taken into custody for violating the requirements of their initial bond.”
