The Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE) fraternity at Yale University is being accused of not letting girls into a Halloween party last weekend simply because of their skin color. According to various accounts from students who were at the party, the frat brothers turned away groups of minorities all night and only let blond girls get in, saying “no, we’re only looking for white girls”.
A student from Columbia University who was visiting for the weekend, as well as a Yale freshman who said he was turned away because he was gay, both attested to hearing SAE brothers tell the crowd “white girls only” throughout the night. They also witnessed the guys turning away groups of Hispanic and black girls at the door. The freshman eventually made it into the party, and he said he saw a few black men inside but mostly just white men and a majority of white blonde girls. He added that a few Asian girls had got in but he did not see a single black girl at the party. Another Yale student posted on her Facebook account about what she experienced on Friday night.
This is not the first time the SAE fraternity has been in hot water for being racist. Just eight months ago, the University of Oklahoma’s SAE chapter was recorded on video leading a racist chant that used the N-word and referenced lynching.
