At the start of every New Year, many are inclined to turn over a new leaf and make a difference in their lives. Whether it is their health, relationship, or career, many use the New Year as a new beginning. But, what happens when reality sets in and you have to return to the same ol’ bullsh*t?

What happens when you return to the job that had stressed you out for weeks? What happens when you come face to face with the manager that disrespected you before the holiday break? Do you put on a smile and say, “New Year, New Me,” or do you go into work on January 2nd ready to f*ck sh*t up and leave?

There are a few key factors you will have to consider when dealing with issues at work. 1. Are you prepared to deal with the consequences of your actions? 2. Do you have a backup plan? 3. Is it worth it?

When questioning whether or not something is worth “it,” you must also consider your pride, your dignity, and your ego. Is the drama that you’re dealing with at work affecting your inner peace? Are your co-workers so disrespectful that it’s affecting your headspace? Do you feel like your kindness is being taken for weakness? If so, then I say, check out. At the end of the day, it’s just a job. But make sure you have a backup plan.

In a full-time position, you spend most of your life at work. There is no reason for you to stay in a job or an environment that affects your mental health or inner peace. After spending so much time around that negative energy, you bring it home, and it begins to affect more than just work. It starts to affect how you treat people outside of the workplace, and now everyone is being punished for what you’re going through at work. So ditch it. Once you get to [that] point, you need to start looking for a new position, start taking interviews, start looking for other ways to support yourself, and split. But do not leave until you have something secured! That’s important.

On the other hand, if it’s not THAT bad, just chalk it up to the game. Brush it off and keep it moving. Don’t let anyone stop your coin! But, make sure you are happy at the end of the day!
